Shirley is such a begger

I love veggie sticks.  I usually pick them up from Trader Joe's whenever I am there (which is not very often).  Jeb and I usually grocery shop at Harris Teeter and on Sunday I had a craving!  And they had some!  They were Snyder's brand and they were definitely not as good as the Trader Joe's kind.  Shirley liked them though.

Don't worry, I only gave her two.  I felt bad that I didn't have any dog biscuits for her.  And who wouldn't give into that face!

It's been a while

I know it has been a while since I have posted here. I don't really have much to write about, and when I do, it usually involves my animals, so I post on my other blog. I have been getting a little bit of traffic there, which is good. I feel as though I have some more content and what not on there, so I can start pointing people there more now.

In other news, I have been pretty darn busy every weekend with either stuff around the house, or wedding planning with Brittany. We are getting down to the wire now! Less than 2 months! I am so very excited. Major things I still need to do to prepare (here I am talking like it's my wedding. hehe):

1. plan and host shower
2. get dress for rehearsal
3. purchase shower and wedding gifts
4. figure out bachlorette party!
5. complete tanning process

Woot!

too cool for school

They go crazy for food!

Lynx is always easy to find in our house.  Wherever we go, he follows.  Luci, however, tends to stay on our bed, or under it.  And while she will let you do anything you want to her (when you find her), she really prefers to be alone...under the bed.  But, if I really want to see her, all I have to do is bring out the treats. :)

Notice Shirley trying to get in on the yumminess???

Friday Friday Friday

Ah, Friday.  You have graced us with your presence once again.  Why can't you hang around more often, huh?

A few weeks ago we noticed our blinds in the dining room were missing pieces..

Thanks Lynx.  I guess I can forgive you.  They do only cost about five bucks.   But, we now have to leave the blinds up.  :/

No steak for YOU!

Since the weather has been warm recently, we have started using our grill again!  Last night we had steaks and boy were they deeeeelish.  (My husband IS the best steak cooker in Virginia Beach after all...)  Shirley even thinks so too.

"I think we should make Lynx an outdoor cat!"

Noooooooo!  Lynx should not be an outdoor cat!  He wants to be, but I won't let him.  And, it's not that I don't think he wouldn't come back.  I think he would.  But, what if he gets hit by a car?  What if the opossum that lives under our house tries to fight or eat him?  What if the rats of Virginia Beach get him!!!!!  I know I know, he is just a cat.  But he is my cat.  He is my baby boy.  He makes me happy!  I can't image my life without that little guy!! But, Lynx does really crave the outdoors...

Last night, we were grilling out, and every time I opened the back door...he would run out!  So, I let him out for a little while.

But, seriously, what would I do if something were to happen to him? I would be so sad.  I just love him SO much! So, I'm sorry Jeb.  But no, we cannot make Lynx an outdoor cat.  At least not for now...

Monday is the worst day of the week

This work day seems to be dragging.  I can't wait to get home and sit on my comfy couch with these two cuties...

Productive weekend

Jeb and I got a lot done this weekend.  I cleaned/vacuumed Friday night.  I cleaned/vacuumed Saturday.  And I cleaned/vacuumed Sunday.  If I want my carpet nice and clean and dog fur free, I must vacuum everyday!

We also did some yard work and a few other things around the house.  Our front yard was covered in leaves...as well as our backyard.  We managed to clean the front up fairly decent and were able to get about half of the back yard done.  Shirley really enjoyed being outside with us.  Every time we found a stick, she got really excited.  The weather was absolutely perfect this weekend too, so we were able to have the windows open most of the time.  While we were outside, Lynx wouldn't stop making noises, he wanted out so bad!

Shirley was pretty pooped later from the excitement of being outside all day.  I think Lynx was pretty tired from meowing all day too...

She's a maniac!

Remember the nice bone we got for Shirley because she had been such a good dog...??We purchased this Wednesday night, and when I got home from work yesterday afternoon, this is all that was left...

Please don't judge me  for my chipped nail polish.  And please ignore the dog hair on my carpet (I vacuumed right after I took this pic). And please ignore the fact that I have no bed skirt on my bed.  The dog tends to lean against it when she sleeps...so I washed it, and it is  rolled up into a ball in my closest because it needs to be ironed. Dog hair, story of my life. *sigh*

Forgivable Friday

I think the picture says it all.

Will the meaness ever end!?

Remember when I posted about Lynx going after Shirley?  Well, he is still at it!  Last night we were watching T.V. and Shirley was sitting by the love seat, minding her own business, when out of nowhere, Lynx jumps at her and hisses!  Shirley yelped out of fear and huddled under Jeb!  I just don't understand why Lynx won't leave her alone!   Even if Lynx walks by her and looks at Shirley the wrong way, Shirley cowers down!  And Lynx is only mean to HER.  He does nothing to our other cat Luci, and he is as sweet as pie to us!  How am I going to fix this?

good dog.

Because Shirley has been so good recently...and because Lynx is still  picking on her, we decided she needed a treat.  So after dinner last night, we headed off to our favorite place...Target.  We actually went  for charcoal so we can grill some yummy steaks tonight... but, when we walked through those glorious Target doors, my mind was so set on getting Shirley her treat (and trying hard not to even glance at the clothes) that we completely forgot the charcoal!  But it's okay.  I love Target (I might have an addiction) and I don't mind going back again after work.  And Shirley really did love her bone.  :)

Shirley got a fur cut

Since we have had Shirley, my dad has always referred to her as F.L.D.  And what does F.L.D. stand for you might ask?  Funny Looking Dog.   Makes sense though.  Check out that fur on her toes!!!

Her fur was so crazy, I had to give her a little trim the other day.

Her tail was insane!!!

You see the crazy fur on the backs of both her legs? As soon as it starts getting really warm though we will have to buzz all those crazy curls off.  She just gets too darn hot.

PUPPIES!

A friend of ours Lab has recently had puppies.

[caption id="attachment_158" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="momma dog and puppies!"][/caption]

Absolute pure cuteness.  The one on its back happened to be dreaming.  His little legs and mouth just kept on moving.  What could he even be dreaming about at 1 week old?Seriously though, who doesn't love puppies??  I can't wait until they are old enough to play!

Not just penguins...

I have recently found a super cute website: cuteoverload.com.  They post pictures and videos of super cute animals.   Last night, they posted this...At first I didn't see what the big deal about this picture was.  Then I spotted it.  And I couldn't contain my laughter.

This dog is ridiculous.

I'm not sure if this is a half smile or a reflex from the scratching or what.  She is definitely silly though.

Friday is finally here!

IT IS FINALLY FRIDAY AGAIN!!!  I am pretty darn excited for this weekend.  (Even though it is most likely going to be gloomy and rainy.)  I am hopefully going to see Alice in Wonderland tonight.  Clean tomorrow morning.  Then relax the rest of the weekend!  But, anyway, on to forgiveness.

This is what my mornings are like...I guess they just want to hang out?  It is quite annoying though when I am trying to get ready.  But, I forgive you.  ALL three of you!

Peanut butter cookies...for dogs!

Last weekend I attempted to make dog treats/cookies.  The main ingredients were peanut butter, whole wheat flower, white flour, oil and water.  I wanted to do everything organic, so I headed over to Trader Joes to get what I needed.

I am not usually a baker, so I just kind of started throwing in the ingredients according the recipe I found online.  Instead of kneading the dough, I was stirring.  That was a mistake.  I wasn't able to add enough flour and I could not find my rolling pin.  So, once I got the dough on the counter I kind of just started pounding it with my fist.  This left the dough lumpy and uneven.   The recipe called for the cookies to bake  for 20 minutes. They should have baked longer.

But, for a test run, they turned out okay.

And Shirley really likes them.

This weekend I may go for round 2.

Why can't they be friends?

He's a mean one, that Lynx

Remember when I posted about Shirley becoming terrified of Lynx?  Well, I was hoping that they would make amends and become best friends again.   I don't think this is going to happen any time soon.  How could something so cute...

... be sooooo evil?

He got her good this time!

Now, what I think happened is that one day Lynx just got sick of Shirley always chasing after him and finally fought back.  Well, once he did that, Shirley, being the major wimp that she is, immediately backed off.   And now Lynx thinks he is the dominant one.  He doesn't show any aggression towards Jeb or me.  Only Shirley.

So,  how do I fix this problem?  I just don't know

First video post.

She likes cat toys more than her own toys.

Four years ago this month...

After Chessie passed we just couldn't stand not having a dog around.  My parents were able to find someone with puppies...but they were about 45 minutes away!!  They really wanted another Chesapeake, so they decided to make the trip.  Once they got there, there were only two puppies left.  One fluffy puppy and one that looked just like a Chessie but had a hernia on his belly!  So, they sucked it up and took the funny looking dog.  However, one dog just wasn't enough for them and we went back and got the male the next day. (We actually worried about what the owners would do to him if no one took him because of his hernia.)  My father named them Shirley and Frank.  And on the way home from picking up Frank, both dogs threw up multiple times in the back seat of the truck.  I think we knew then that these two together were going to be trouble.

Pretty darn cute though, don't ya think?

Happy birthday Frank and Shirley.

this is where it all started.

Four years ago, this month, my family had to make one of the most difficult decisions we have ever had to as a family.  Watch our 11 year old Chessie suffer in pain because we couldn't stand to part from her?  Or let her finally be at peace?  Well, the day before her 12th birthday, we decided she needed peace.

Now, that is what is really Chessie looks like. :) Miss you Ches.

Spring is right around the corner!

Y'all, it has been a cold winter here in good 'ol Virginia Beach this year.  The past few months have really just been awful.  Our little house only has a window unit for heat and AC, which keeps us warm for the most part.  But when we get home, we don't want to leave.

This weekend though, we finally had some warm weather.  Yesterday was absolutely beautiful.  Hopefully the sunshine is here to stay.  The sunny weather even brought Luci out of hiding this weekend.  :)

Sunday play date.

Shirley and Frank had a play date yesterday.  Usually when we bring Shirley over to my parents house, Frank gets so excited and will run for Shirley as soon as he sees her.  What does Shirley do?  Run in the other direction to try and avoid him.   But, I think they had fun playing together.

I think that chuck it might just be the best invention ever.

Oh, and by the way, did any of you notice the picture in the middle on the bottom row?

Oh, Frank.

I just can't help myself.

[caption id="attachment_94" align="aligncenter" width="453" caption="CUTENESS!"][/caption]

I found this on the web.  Baby kitties are just pure cuteness.

I lied

We have not gotten back into the groove of running. GO AWAY COLD WEATHER!!!! Dang wind will make it feel almost 10 degrees colder outside in the morning. So lame!

Milk does the body good (not cats though)

The second I put my ice cream bowl down last night...... this little guy thought it was okay to start cleaning it.  This cat loves human food.  I try not to feed him anything, but sometimes I can't resist giving him a piece of chicken or something.  But, cats should not consume milk.  Milk is not exactly toxic, but it can still upset their stomach.  Some toxic foods include:  garlic, onions, chocolate, grapes or raisins.  Keep away from those!

Forgivable Friday

Ya'll, it is finally Friday!  Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday. (For once, I was absolutely swamped at work.)

As you know, today is Forgivable Friday.  However, all three pets were on good behavior this week, for the most part.  I think Shirley was on the couch all week trying to stay away from Lynx. And I think Luci and Lynx probably just stayed on the corner of my bed every day.   Notice I said for the most part?  I did find out who has been chewing on my starfish that sits on my side table next to my couch...Shirley.  I got home yesterday and Shirley was in her usual spot, the couch, with a starfish right next to her paws.  Nice.  But it's okay Shirley.  I forgive you.  You are too cute to be mad at.

Protector of food.

Chessies are born protectors.  They are usually fairly protective of their owners and sometimes will show aggression if someone gets around them that they are unsure of.  Shirley has shown her protectiveness many times.  And not only with us...but with other things like toys and her food.  And  sometimes things that are not even hers...Yes.  That is cat food.   She even raised her lip at Lynx when he walked by her!We moved the bag of food to see if Shirley would follow it...but, Lynx beat her to it first.  She still kept  a close eye on it though.

Laziest dog ever.

Are you serious, Shirley??I bet she is at home on the couch right now.
